Scientific Visualization with Sculpt 4D
---- A Disulfide Bond ----
E. G. Suchanek, Ph.D.
CIS: 76456,710
This image represents a model for an intermolecular "cross-brace"
known as a Disulfide Bond. The model came from a prediction by
an artificial intelligence program I authored while a graduate
student at Johns Hopkins Medical School. Even though the number
of spheres (atoms) shown is small, the image is highly complex.
There are well over 10,000 edges and 7,000 triangles represented!
The atoms are color coded as follows:
Grey: Carbon
White: Hydrogen
Red: Oxygen
Blue: Nitrogen
The image was generated with Sculpt 4D on an Amiga 2500 equipped
with 5MB memory and an 80MB hard drive. It took approximately
two hours to render. Can be viewed with any good HAM viewer or
sview2, (included in this archive).
This shows yet another use for this marvelous computer - scientific
visualization, (in this case at the atomic level).
If you like this image, share an interest in molecular modelling
or use Sculpt 4d drop me a line!
